UNI, the Italian National Standards Body, is a non-profit organization involved in the area of standardization in all industrial, commercial and tertiary sectors except for electrical and electrotechnical areas which fall within the responsibility of the CEI. It was founded in 1921, and is legally recognized both at the national and European level. Italian standards are preceded by the upper case letters UNI and followed by an alphanumeric code. When UNI take over an international standard the upper case letter UNI is followed by ISO or EN and by an alphanumeric code. Example: UNI 7356; UNI 2955/2; UNI ISO 9000; UNI EN 29000
